Victorian Equestrian Centre

The Victorian Equestrian Centre (VEC) is located in picturesque Upper Beaconsfield, some 45 minutes from Melbourne. The centre has magnificent facilities for riders with a huge indoor arena with spectator seating for 300 people, two outdoor ménages, stables, and covered stalls.

Lessons and Trail Rides

Private, Semi-Private, and Group lessons are offered for riders of all ages and experience levels throughout the year, on VEC school horses, or the rider’s own horse.

Trail Rides are also available and are run in the beautiful countryside surrounding the VEC.

Bookings are essential for Lessons and Trail Rides, especially for weekend riding.

Riding Clubs

Children and teenagers aged from 6 to 18 are encouraged to participate in the VEC riding clubs that run throughout the school year. These clubs cater for all ability levels from beginners to more experienced riders.

There are two clubs on Saturday for intermediate to experienced riders, Saturday Club and Eventing Club, Sunday Morning Club and Sunday Afternoon Club for beginning to intermediate riders, and after school clubs on Mondays and Wednesdays for beginners upwards.

Holiday Camps and One Day Programs

Every school holidays, five day riding camps are held at the VEC for beginner to experienced level riders. Daily practical riding lessons include instruction in flatwork, jumping and games, and a trail ride in the surrounding country side. Horse care and theory sessions are also held each day.

In addition, each camp includes an afternoon excursion to a nearby horse stud and concludes with a gymkhana which families are encouraged to attend.

One Day Riding Programs are also conducted during the school holidays for beginner to intermediate level riders.

Eventing Camps of five days are also occasionally each year for experienced riders who bring their own horse to the camp.

School Training Programs

Training Programs or special Holiday Riding Camps can be arranged for any primary or secondary schools interested. The training Program or camp will be tailored to suit the needs of the school and it’s riders.

Agistment

The VEC offers quality agistment, with well-fenced private paddocks (one horse) or semi-private paddocks (two horses) available.

Agisters have full use of the VEC arenas, stables, tie-ups, and tack rooms.

There is also a very active and enjoyable Adult Riding Club, which holds monthly rallies for agisters and others interested.

Interschool Equestrian Competitions

The concept of the Interschool Equestrian Competition was founded in Australia by the VEC back in 1995. Nowadays, the VEC runs four such competitions: The Interschool Equestrian Challenge in Term One; the Interschool Dressage Competition in Term Two; the Interschool Showjumping Competition in Term Three; and the Interschool Primary School Challenge in Term Four.

Riders come from primary and secondary schools all over Victoria for these keenly fought competitions. Contact the VEC if you wish to involve your school.
