Cardinia Shire Council’s Economic
Development Unit
Council’s Economic Development Unit focuses
on facilitation of the growth of small and
medium enterprises across Cardinia Shire,
fostering a culture of entrepreneurship,
maintaining strong agribusiness activities
and building an integrated local economy
with increased business diversity.
The Economic Development Unit offers the
following services to Cardinia’s Business
Community:
Support for local business groups
Cardinia has 18 independent business groups,
representing the wide diversity of
businesses throughout the Shire. The unit
provides businesses with access to Council’s
decision makers and opportunities for
professional development.
Networking opportunities
The unit fosters networking through
Council’s Cardinia Business Breakfasts and
maintains the online Cardinia Business
Register, to encourage residents and
enterprises to ‘shop locally’.
Celebrating business achievements
Council recognises the contribution of the
local business community to the economy and
celebrates business achievements through its
annual Cardinia Shire Business Awards and
quarterly business newsletter Business
Connections.
Cardinia Business Partnership Program
Council provides grants to business groups
under the Cardinia Business Partnership

contribute to employment growth.
